It's been a while!

It's been a while! I hope you are having a wonderful summer. I've been busy making lots of new work, which I've been trying to put into groups. I've also have been on the mission to try and marry my digital and hand painting somehow... which has been a bit of a challenge but a fun one nevertheless. I decided to start with my two favourite things- food and folk art.

I let my mind wander today and somehow this came to be! I feel like I had no control over it. It just took on a life of it's own.

I'm starting a new antique folky floral series. I've been watching loads of British dramas set in quaint seaside villages lately and I think it's starting to rub off on my work.

Hello from Winterland

It's official I have the winter blues. Here in Canada complaining about winter is the national pastime which usually annoys me. I don't hate the winter so much but this winter has gotten to me, The depth of the snow, the freezing temps. All I want is to put on some sandals and sweat under the sun. Until then I will illustrate my sorrow. Charlie and I say hello from the land of the 10 foot snowbank.

Some great news!

I got two wonderful emails yesterday and today so I'd thought I'd share my joy! First I'm a top ten finalist in the Spoonflower Chinese Paper Cutting Design Contest! My design will be put up for sale as well added to the fat quarter ( a piece of fabric that is 21" x 18") bundle which will be for sale this week only! So get 'em while they're hot!

Second, I have been added to the KESS In House Artists Roster! My designs will be displayed on a variety of lovely home decor products! Please see their awesome website here. I have just been accepted so it will be a while before my designs are displayed but it feels wonderful to have gotten the ball rolling!

My Etsy shop has finally reopened! Redesigned with my new logo and fun new art I have been working on these last few months! Currently I have added only ten special items. The shop has been revamped with a quality over quantity motto, so only those items made with the most love will be posted! Please check out the relaunched shop!

I'm on the Moyo Directory!

As some of my fellow Make Art That Sells alumni, I have decided to join the Moyo Directory!
This is a brand new website for you all surface designers wanting to get noticed (me included) and showcase your talent. For those of you that don't have websites yet this is a great way to get noticed. You just upload work quickly and set up a profile into a template. I'm still working on customizing my profile to be just the way I want but I'm almost there. One of my goals this year is to get my work out there, noticed and get a steady stream of clients coming in as well as connecting to my fellow designers. I haven't yet seen a website connecting all of us pattern geeks together, so share the love!

Flowers Allover!

It's been a long time since I've done a floral. I went through the whole process of sketching my pattern on paper and then tracing it in illustrator. I'm finding that I like to layout my ideas by hand and then execute the final product on the computer.
 I want a flowy summer skirt in this pattern or maybe a scarf.What do you think?

Geometric Patterns are so much fun to do. The repetitive action of arranging fun, bright shapes is very soothing. Some bright colours and shapes to make a grey and snowy January more bright!
